IFFO’s 60th Annual Conference took place in Lima, Peru, just a few days ago. This gathering is unique in bringing together the marine ingredient community from around the world. Many thanks to all of you who joined it. Throughout the event, listening to our thirty fantastic speakers, and talking with the delegates, I was impressed by the industry’s proactivity.
The industry is demonstrating a strong leadership, with a palpable sense of commitment, through “courageous collaborations” and “Science Based Targets”. The industry is taking a leadership role in pre-competitive collaboration as a powerful means to drive improvements globally. It is developing a long-term vision for the ocean, for communities, for business, for people. We are playing our part in the discussions that will shape our future: nutrition through blue foods; climate change mitigation; sustainability trade-offs.
By demonstrating a strong leadership, the industry is enhancing its connection to the world, its connection to its clients and customers.
What do our clients say? We must not be complacent, and we must differentiate from the risk areas of fisheries.
We are listening to them. Our foundations are robust, we must play to our strengths: excellent nutrition, low environmental impacts, resilience, all of these being supported by science.
Let’s stay focused and be responsible ambassadors for the marine ingredients industry.
